Santa Rosa ruthless in Youth League

First (1st) FC Santa Rosa completed an impressive run in the group stage of the NLCB National Youth League (NYL) with a treble of victories, which saw it secure top spot in Group A of the Under-14, U-16 and U-18 divisions, at YTC, Arouca, on Sunday.
The day started with a 7-1 thrashing of Tunapuna Titans in the U-14 division. Reynard Thorne and John Paul Rochford bagged a hat-trick and a double, respectively, for the winner, with Isiah Lee and Tevin Garcia scoring the other goals.
The U-16 Santa Rosa team followed up with a 1-0 result over Southern Football Academy, completing its sixth consecutive win for the season, compliments of a well taken free-kick from Deyshawn Edwards early in the second half.
In the U-18 division match, Santa Rosa had little trouble disposing of WASA FC and did so by a 3-1 margin. Andre Rampersad also scored two, with regular scorer David Lezama grabbing the other.
Santa Rosa as a result, topped Group A in all three divisions and will meet, Group B winners Moruga FC (U-14), Eagles United (U-16) and Siparia Spurs (U-18) in the first play-off match this weekend (see fixtures below).
Moruga topped Group B on an impressive 15 points from six matches, thrashing Siparia Spurs 3-0, in its last match on Sunday. Eagles United, U-16 Group B winner, ended on 11 points, two more than nearest challenger Club Sando and three above Siparia Spurs, which it defeated 3-1 in the last group match.
Spurs, however, finished on top of Group B in the U-18 division on goal-differencial, made it look easy with a 10-1 hammering of Eagles on the final day of group action.
