NAPARIMA COLLEGE continued their dominant run of form in the 2014 BG TT Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) when they drubbed visitors Arima North 6-1 at home in Lewis Street, San Fernando, yesterday.

In as early as the second minute of play, Arima North seemed to confidently go ahead after successfully converting a corner to find the back of the “Naps” goal. Ten minutes later however, Naparima levelled the playing field after Stephon Smith slotted one home in similar fashion, brilliantly converting from the corner spot. It was here that the floodgates opened for the home team.

In the 14th minute, Nicholas Dillion, just back from national duty marked his return with a sublime strike (2-1), carrying the ball across the face of the goal and finishing in the opposite direction leaving the goalie helpless. Naparima continued the onslaught when striker Nicholas Thomas fired a bullet from 20 yards out past the Arima custodian (3-1). Dillon then completed a powerful first half when he found the back of the net once more (4-1).

Eight minutes into the second period, an Arima player was shown the red card after connecting a nasty stamp on Nicholas Thomas. Seven minutes to go from full time, Shane Sandy added one more to Naparima’s tally (5-1) when he blasted a screamer from approximately 25 yards out. Four minutes later, “Naps” hit the final nail in Arima North’s coffin when Jeremiah Kezar bagged his first goal for the College with an easy tuck in.

In other matches yesterday, St Benedict’s College showed worth when they produced a good 3-1 victory over Fatima College. Scoring for the “Golden Lions” were Shermar Ravello and Shaquille Williams (two).

Additionally, St Anthony’s continued their flawless 2014 performance with a stellar 3-0 beating of St Augustine Secondary. Presentation College, San Fernando, continued to struggle this year and were dealt another blow after going down 2-0 to Trinity College.

In other scores yesterday, San Juan North got the better of Shiva Boys 3-2 while St Mary’s were held to a 1-1 draw by Carapichaima.
