Players on the Queen’s Royal College, Trinity College and St Anthony’s College football teams will be stepping out on the field in style this season, thanks to sponsorship of brand new Adidas uniforms by CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank.

The sponsorship represents CIBC FirstCaribbean’s partnership with Matchkit, a new company focused on providing top-quality equipment and development programmes.

As the authorised wholesale dealer of the international sports apparel brand Adidas, Matchkit will supply the uniforms for the three teams through sponsorship from CIBC FirstCaribbean.

Speaking at the media launch to announce the collaboration at the VIP Room of the Hasely Crawford Stadium earlier this week, CIBC FirstCaribbean managing director, Duane Hinkson said the bank was pleased to partner with Matchkit and the three schools.

“Sport is a key area to drive youth forward. It teaches them the value of being on a team working toward common goals and genuinely supporting your team members to collectively achieve. At CIBC FirstCaribbean, we are committed to programmes that centre on youth development such as this one so that they continue to learn, excel and lead by example,” Hinkson said.

Brent Sancho, Matchkit’s managing director, said the company was launched in an effort to provide players with the best and commended CIBC FirstCaribbean for its contribution towards this vision.

“CIBC FirstCaribbean shares our philosophy to support our young teams, especially secondary schools, and they must be commended for sponsoring these top schools,” Sancho said. “Matchkit is fully committed to local sports and we, with Adidas, are ready for the challenge to effect positive change.”

Also present at the launch was Trinity College manager Tevon Lerose, who spoke on behalf of the three schools. He said: “It is good to see the corporate world reaching out to schools and we thank CIBC FirstCaribbean for their sponsorship.”

The Matchkit company intends to work with more schools in the future and Hinkson added that the bank looks forward to a long-term relationship and expanding its reach within the local youth sport circuit alongside the sports company.
