Top-tier representatives Real Dimension and Trincity Nationals advanced to the final of the Women’s League Football (WoLF) Big-Four competition, with wins over St Augustine SC and Step by Step, at Guaracara Park, Point-a-Pierre, on Friday.

Premier Division champions Real Dimension defeated St Augustine SC 2-1, before Trincity Nationals sealed the other final spot with a 3-0 default win over Step by Step, which was unable to field a starting 11.

The opener between Real Dimension and St Augustine, featured several surprises, including the beautiful winner from Dernelle Mascall, a former US-based midfielder in the 78th minute.

T&T “Woman Footballer of the Year” for 2002, Tasha St Louis opened early in the 11th minute following a brilliant lobbed through-ball from Mascall, which she ran onto, to slot into the St Augustine goal.

St Augustine SC, runner-up in the Wolf First Division league, got back into the match with Naomie Guerra scoring from the penalty spot five minutes into the second half, albeit with the Dimension player’s protesting lack of evidence of a foul in the penalty area.

However, Mascall, who had been brilliant for the champions throughout the season, found the back of the net with less than a quarter of an hour remaining after being sent through on the right side of the goal, to beat one defender before chipping wonderfully over the head of the St Augustine goalkeeper to secure the deserved victory.

The final will be contested today between Real Dimension and Trincity at the same venue from 5 pm. The final will follow the third place play-off between St Augustine SC and Step by Step. It is set to kick off at 3 pm.
