After battling for quite a long time to get their government subvention from SPORTT to participate in the T&T Pro League, Central FC is finally getting their well-deserved funds.

Also getting a monthly subvention are newcomers to the T&T Pro League Point Fortin Civic Centre. T&T Guardian understands that sports minister Dr Rupert Griffith, early in his tenure, indicated to acting CEO of SPORTT Adrian Raymond that he must find the money for these two clubs to get the subventions as the others have been getting all the while because he was concerned about the development of the young footballers at the clubs.

The Brent Sancho-led Central FC has been knocking on the doors for quite a while to get their funding but was not able to get any assistance.

Central contracting firm Super Industrial Services Limited (SIS) has been taken care of the brunt of their expenses since then and the club has been doing extremely well both on and off the field.

Griffith heard from both clubs and decided to move quickly in order to get the assistance for them.

Raymond, also new to his job was then left with the task of finding the funds, so that the monthly payments could be made. He set about a series of cost cutting initiatives and it has immediately proved effective, so much so that he was able to source the funding for the pro league clubs.

It is understood that Raymond sent back the rented SUVs that was a costly affair for SPORTT as part of his cost cutting.

He also looked at staffing and how effectively those that were on board could be used to get the desired results.

T&T Guardian was told that Raymond since his acting started has been shopping around for better deals, in all aspect of SPORTT’s spending and has been able to cut it considerably.

Now that he has done that, SPORTT can put smiles on the faces of many young athletes at both Central FC and Point Fortin Civic Centre.
