After looking seemingly unbeatable this season, Joe Public suffered their first defeat after nine matches of the 2009 bmobile National Super League on Wednesday when they fell 2-1 to second-placed 1976 FC Phoenix in a re-scheduled match.

Phoenix always had the initiative and led 1-0 in the 31st minute through Le Jandro Williams, before Joe Public levelled on the stroke of half-time through a 45th minute goal from striker Ellis Dyette. But, just three minutes into the second half Andell Noray scored the winning goal to give the Tobago team full points and put them within three points of Joe Public.
