The Lab Medica Group/MyCard Sport investment to provide all National Players with medical screening.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association today disclosed a major partnership with The Lab Medica Group through HealthNet Caribbean Clinics and the MyCard Sport program which will offer  free medical screenings to all national teams and technical staff of the Trinidad & Tobago Football Association (TTFA).

The Lab Medica Group was today announced as an official partner of the TTFA at a press conference held at the VIP Lounge, Hasely Crawford Stadium.

In an unprecedented move, MyCard Sport will invest over $3 million in the next four years into the TTFA to ensure that all players of the various Men’s and Women’s National Teams, are at peak performance and health while representing the red, white and black. In addition, all MyCard TTFA cards sold to the public will provide a $20 cash back to the TTFA for youth and player development.

The Lab Medica Group/MyCard Sport investment will provide all players with a medical screening comprising a doctor’s fitness check-up, blood tests such as blood count, iron tests, cholesterol and sugar, a heart test or ECG, a lung test or Spirometry and urine testing for various medical conditions. Most of these tests will be conducted on-site using Lab Medica's Medical Mobile Unit.

TTFA President Raymond Tim Kee in an immediate response to the forming of the partnership expressed his gratitude and was notably elated, stating “This is unprecedented in local football and at the level of our national teams and the Football Association. I feel extremely delighted and pleased that we have been able to form this partnership with the Lab Medica Group and more importantly the steps towards ensuring our national players are all looked after health wise and in their preparation for all forms of the game.”

According to Lab Medica Group CEO, Richard Ramrekha, “All of T&T would have been saddened by the untimely deaths of Akeem Adams and Kevon Carter, and we felt that we needed to get involved and ensure that all athletes get a medical screening even before touching the field of play. We call on the rest of Corporate T&T to assist our athletes in the early days and not just wait to jump on the bandwagon when our teams are winning.

Lab Medica's HealthNet Clinics and MyCard Sport will certainly do its part in ensuring the health and fitness of our youths and athletes. “ Ramrekha added “when you buy a MyCard TTFA you support our footballers including our Soca Warriors in their World Cup campaign toward Russia 2018.”
