THE PROPOSED clash between the Trinidad and Tobago “Soca Warriors” and Colombia, which was carded to take place on June 1 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been cancelled, according to a report on the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) Twitter page on Monday night.

“Despite reaching agreements last week for the game to be played as a warm up for Jose Peckerman’s team in Buenos Aires ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Finals (in Brazil), TTFA general secretary Sheldon Phillips was advised that the Colombians will no longer play the game but instead have opted to play an African opponent,” said the TTFA. “African nation Ivory Coast is in Group C with Colombia for the World Cup.”

“The TTFA is currently making efforts to secure another match as a replacement.”

Phillips, according to the report, stressed that the scheduled matches against Argentina, in La Plata, Argentina on June 4, and Iran, in Sao Paolo, Brazil on June 8, are still on the cards.

“He also added that positive discussions have taken place with the Ministry of Tourism which has agreed to support the (forth)coming trip,” said the TTFA report.

“Additional information on a supporters package for the game against Argentina will be disclosed in the next few days.”
