T&T’s youth footballers will have a chance to display their wares this weekend as the North, East, South, Eastern Counties, Central and Tobago Football Associations host two hour screening sessions on Sunday.

In the North and East Zones attracted close to 50 players at their first sessions last Sunday and that number is expected to increase according to a official attached to the North Zone.

The sessions will all be conducted simultaneously from 9 am to 11pm in the North at the Queen’s Park Savannah opposite Belmont Circular Road and in the East at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya while south will be hosting theirs for the first time this week.

The screening sessions are open to Under-13 and Under-14 players born in 1992 and 1993.

In other youth football news, the Joe Public Coaching School has begun training players between the ages of 6 and 16 on Saturday mornings at the Marvin Lee Stadium from 9 am to 11am.

The training sessions began two weeks ago at the same venue and according to organisers the response has been encouraging with over 60 players showing up a marked increase from the 30 that attended over the same period in previous years.

This improved participation which has even brought out some girls can be attributed to T&T’s historic qualification for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany an event that officials of the camp say can augur well for the future of T&T football.
