Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 20 Men’s Team demolished Turks and Caicos 11-0 in their second CFU First Round encounter at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Friday night to move to the top of the group table on six points and virtually assure themselves of a place in the CFU Final round in Curacao in October.

Only the group winners advance on an automatic passage which will be determined when T&T faces St Lucia from 6:30pm on Sunday as St Lucia defeated Guadeloupe 1-0 in the earlier match on Friday. But T&T are likely to at least finish as either first, second or third best runner up team among the sides in the four groups.

T&T got out of the block in blistering pace on Friday as the Turks and Caicos proved to be little match for the Brian Williams-coached unit.

Central FC forward Nicholas Dillon led the way with five goals in the evening, scoring in the 11’, 29’, 49th, 61’ and 65′. DirecTV W Connection’s 15-year old midfielder Isaiah Hudson notched a pair in the 15′ ad 58′ with substitute Micah Lansiquot finding the net in the 72′ after Noah Powder struck in the 56′.

Kierron Mason had earlier put T&T 4-0 ahead in the 46th minute. Morgan Bruce put the final nail on the visitors with a goal in the 83rd minute.

T&T U-20s blow out Turks & Caicos 11-0

T&T Under-20 men’s footballers will go into their top-of-the-table Group Two clash in the Caribbean Football Union Under-20 Fifa World Cup Qualifying against St Lucia needing only a draw at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva from 6.30 pm this evening to top the qualifying group.

This after Central FC striker Nicholas Dillon helped himself to a handful of goals, including a second-half hat-trick as T&T Under-20 found their scoring touch in an 11-0 drubbing of Turks & Caicos in their second match on Friday night at the same venue to improve to maximum six points from two matches after a less than convincing 1-0 win over Guadeloupe in their opener on Wednesday.

St Lucia also made it two straight wins from as many matches, beating Guadeloupe 1-0, thanks to a 47th minute strike from captain Ryi Maryat in the 47th minute to add to its 2-0 blanking of Turks & Caicos.

However, the Jabari Mitchell-led young Soca Warriors enjoy a healthy goal-difference of plus-12 and will top the four-team group with a draw, while the St Lucians who have also qualified for the CFU eight-team final with their six points tally need a win to top the table.

In today’s opener, Turks and Caicos and Guadeloupe meet from 4 pm, with both teams playing for nothing more than pride. On Friday night, coach Brian Williams wanted his local squad to do much better in front of goal with their finishing after squandering numerous chances versus Guadelope.

And Dillon surely took heed as he found the back of the net as early as the tenth minute and 29th, while Isaiah Hudson added the other in the 15th for a comfortable 3-0 lead at the half.

On the resumption, T&T romped up the pressure despite the substitution of first match scorer Jarred Dass at the half with Kathon St Hillaire as his replacement.

Two minutes after the restart, defender Kierron Mason got in on the scoring while Dillon (49th) and Noah Powder (51st) scored within two minutes of each other for a 6-0 cushion.

The onslaught was now well and truly on Hudson (58th), Dillon (61st & 65th), substitute Micah Lansiquot (72nd) and Morgan Bruce-De Rouche (83rd) added further items to complete the lopsidd victory and with it a top two finish and certain qualification to the next round as the T&T squad seeks to earn a third Under-20 Fifa World Cup Finals.

Commenting on the win, Williams said he was delighted with the onslaught but still cautious heading into Sunday’s match with St Lucia.

“It was a good feeling to see the way we scored the goals tonight. Not disrespecting Turks and Caicos but we knew this was the game where we had to score as much goals as possible as St Lucia also won today and come Sunday’s game, goal difference could play a part in who tops the group,” Williams said.

“At this point I am pretty pleased but we take every game step by step. Sunday’s match will not be easy because St Lucia have looked good and now we will prepare to go out there and get the victory.”
Dillon added that his dedication and hard work paid off with the five-goal performance.

“I had a good training session going into the game and since the first game I felt my form was good. Coach had emphasised to me to be more aggressive going to the ball and I was able to do that today and get the goals. Coach told us at half time to not be relaxed and to go out there and kill them off and we were able to do that in the second half,” Dillon stated.

Currently two other groups are also being contested, Group One and Four at the end of which the top team will advance for certain as well while Group Three involving Anguilla, Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Haiti will be played at a later date.

For the matches at Couva, tickets will be on sale on match days priced at $20 covered section and $10 uncovered.
