#8 - Khaleem Hyland ....far right.National striker Jamal Gay of German Second Division club, SC Rot-Weiss Oberhausen is expected to return home on Wednesday to join the T&T Under-20 team for the Concacaf Final Round Under-20 Championship here in T&T.
This was confirmed by team manager Chris Da Silva, ahead of T&T’s friendly match against El Salvador at the Plymouth Ground, Tobago, last night. Gay, who has featured in a few matches for the senior T&T team under coach, Francisco Maturana signed a three-year contract with the Bundesliga team last month and has featured in a number of matches as a substitute.

Da Silva said that 18-year-old Gay, formerly of bmobile Joe Public will travel to T&T on Wednesday and join the rest of the team in camp on Thursday ahead of T&T’s Pool B matches against Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico, at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.

However, another European-based player Khaleem Hyland attached to Belgian First Division club, SV Zulte Waregem will not be making the trip home for the tournament. Da Silva said that after considerable thought the decision was taken by the team management and those of the T&T Football Federation not to ask for the 19-year-old Hyland, also a senior team player to join the team.

On Friday, the T&T team rebounded from its friendly 3-1 loss to Honduras with a 1-0 win over the same opponents with defender Robert Primus, the man on target.

Primus scored in the 51st minute from 30-yards out in match which saw referee Keon Yorke issued five red cards, three for T&T and two for the Central Americans. Trent Lougheed, Sheldon Bateau and Sean De Silva were the three T&T player to see red in the second-half.

Following last night’s match against El Salvador, T&T will also face the Central Americans tomorrow at the same venue from 4pm, before Yugloslav-born TT coach Zrona Vranes names his 20-man squad.
