Basic booked a berth in the national finals of the 2015 Guinness Street Football Challenge when they whipped Touches 2-0 to capture the north zone title at the Jean Pierre Complex in Port of Spain on Saturday.

First half goals by Shaeon Phillip in the fourth minute and Glen Walker a minute later was good enough to maintain their dominance of Touches and secure the title.

Basic progressed to the final after playing unbeaten in their Group B campaign. They opened with a 3-0 blanking of Touches as Kenton Neptune (9th), Nkosi Telemaque (13th) and Glen Walker (15th) found the back of the net.

That win was followed by a 3-1 whipping of Powder Magazine where Telemaque notched a double in the 6th and 15th minutes with Akel Fairbain adding an 11th minute item while Kirk Cummings got a 13th minute goal for Powder Magazine.

In their final group fixture, Telemaque gave Basic the lead against Ballers in the third minute but Raphael Lares equalised to send the game to a penalty kick shootout after no more goals were scored in open play.

Basic converted from the penalty spot to clinch the match 2-1 to secure top spot in the group and book a semi-final date with Group A runner-up, 2 Touch.

After a tense opening five minutes of action in their semi-final matchup, Walker put Basic ahead in the 6th minute and would add another goal three minutes later to double his team's advantage.

2 Touch fought gallantly in the final three minutes of the match but had to settle for a consolation item by Adrian Noel in the 15th minute when the outcome was virtually beyond doubt.

The other semi-final pitted Group A winner Hardest FC against Touches, who filled the runner-up berth in Group B behind Basic.

And after a goal-less first half, Makesi Lewis scored a brace in the 10th and 12th minutes to show Hardest FC the exit door and secure one of the two national final berths up for grabs.

The final leg of the zonal playoffs will be contested at Constantine Park in Macoya on Saturday.
