MEMBERS OF the 1989 Strike Squad will reunite once again at the Eddie Hart Savannah, Tacarigua, on Sunday, to mark the 41st annual Eddie Hart Football League opening.

The Strike Squad will square off against an Eddie Hart League representative team in the feature match on the day’s agenda.

There will also be two exhibition fixtures on the day, with Vandykes facing a representative women’s team and Valtrin, the 2006 league champs, meeting Parliament, last year’s knockout kings.

The day’s proceedings will get going from 2 pm with a march past and a parade of the participating teams. During the afternoon, there will be performances by 2007 Panorama champion Neal & Massy Trinidad All Stars, Couva Joylanders, Pamberi and Caribbean Vibes Rhythm Section, with additional music being supplied by the Fire Services and Prisons bands.

Former national star footballer and coach Everald “Gally” Cummings, chairman of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation Patricia Meijas, and Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs Joan Yuille-Williams will take the salute of teams with Yuille-Williams declaring the season open.

During the day, a special award will be presented to the league’s first Footballer of the Year recipient Edwin Haynes, who earned the accolade in 1967.
