Marabella Family Crisis and host club San Fernando Sports Academy were declared joint winners of the Under-Eight Division of the San Fernando Sports Academy Football Fiesta on Saturday. In the final, both teams battled to a 1-1 draw at Skinner Park, San Fernando.

Jan Steadman FC and San Fernando Sports Academy also participated in development matches in the Under-16 division while Dunstan Williams SA won both the Under-10 and Under-13 age-groups after wins over San Fernando (2-1) and Point Fortin Youth Academy respectively.

The Golden Boot award was captured by San Fernando’s Jonathan Nicholas Nanan with eight goals while Malike Mason of Marabella collected a special award.

Former national footballer Jan Steadman was also presented with a special award for his 30-plus years of football coaching and development of the game and having the oldest and most recognised football school in San Fernando.

The competition was hosted by the San Fernando Sports Academy to help develop the young footballers in the community.

It was the third tournament hosted in two years under the supervision of coaches Christian Khan, Mark Jardo, Linton Jennings, Special Adviser, Chivon Thornhill and technical director, Preston Nanan.

Overall, more than 250 youngsters participated in 31 matches which ended with all players receiving a medal for participation. Minister of Community Development, Nizam Baksh delivered the feature address.

The sponsors included the parents of the San Fernando Sports Academy, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Sport Company of T&T (SPORTT), bmobile BlackBerry, Union Steel, Scotia Bank, Muscle Fitness Gym, Moruga Abundant Life Ministries, Brian Kissoon and Preston Nanan.
