San Fernando Sports Academy will host their annual football camp at Skinner Park, San Fernando from July 11 - 14.

The camp will run from 9am - 4pm daily and will be divided into Under-6, Under-8, Under-10, Under-13 and Under-15 categories. Registration is $175 per person.

From the camp, five teams will be selected to take part in the qualifying rounds of the forthcoming Republic Bank Youth Cup scheduled for July 16 at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Three Under-10 teams, one Under-13 and an Under-15 team will be chosen to represent the Academy at the Republic Cup.

The camp is open to young interested footballers who reside within San Fernando and environs. It will focus on the basics of football and different skills will be taught.

President of San Fernando Sports Academy, Preston Nanan explained that this type of camp brings great benefit to players and parents as well.

“A development camp such as this can bring major positive results. The kids would have a week to spend productively learning and playing football. This camp is especially designed to instill discipline at a young age. Fathers will also have a chance to play together with their kids as they learn the wonderful sport. It is very family oriented,” stated Nanan.

Participants are required to attend with proper football gear and lunch. Refreshments will be provided but is not advised that it be used as lunch for any player.

Last year, an Under-12 squad made it to the national finals of the Republic Bank Youth Cup.

The Academy also provides football training on Thursdays at 4.30pm and Saturdays at 3pm, at the same venue.
