Anthony George and Keron Clarke scored a pair of goals each as Northern Area Sports Club (NASC) whipped La Pastora 5–1 to secure a spot in the quarterfinal round of the Santa Cruz Football Organisation’s Monteco Cup knockout competition on Sunday.
Shaton Olliviere added the other goal for NASC while Trevis Richards scored for La Pastora in the 70-minute contest at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground, Sam Boucaud, Upper Santa Cruz. NASC will meet the winner of the round-of-16 clash between North Coast Utd and Back Street for a semifinal spot.
North Coast and Back Street battled to a 2–2 draw on Tuesday before bad light forced the match to be stopped, without penalty-kicks being taken, which sets up a replay.
Other teams to reach the last-eight of the tournament, which carries a winner take-all $3,000 first prize, so far are league semifinalists, Dathea and Fire Service as well as Police, Northern Area Sports Club (NASC) and San Juan San Juan. Meanwhile, the Monteco League semifinal will take place today from 2 pm.
In the first match, Dathea meets Police at 2 pm, followed by Back Street against North Coast United, two hours later. The league winners will battle it out for the $10,000 top prize while second gets $5,000, third $2,500 and fourth, $1,500.
