WASA FC made a strong start to the new National Super League (NASL) season when they routed FC Santa Rosa 6-1 on Sunday at their ground on Farm Road, St Joseph.

Kerron Clarke netted a hat-trick to help them establish an unassailable lead to start their campaign with an emphatic win.

WASA were the architects of a real washout against the Santa Rosa boys. Dorian Daniel opened the floodgates as early as the fourth minute, while Clarke made the result safe. Gary Glasgow and Glen Walker rounded out the caning in the 65th and 86th minutes respectively. Nicholas Armstrong scored the lone item for Santa Rosa.

The other teams in the 15-team competition were also in action, with the exception of Club Sando, who had a bye. NCLB La Horquetta won 2-0 against Real Maracas, after Frederick Commissiong and Kern Roberts scored in each half to help them to the win.

Petrotrin Palo Seco edged out Defence Force FC 2-1 after having to wrestle for the lead after Corey Cyrus' strike in the 35th minute was cancelled out by Dexter Thornhill's equalising effort in the 61st.

Jason Gross made the result sure when he scored in the 68th minute.

Guaya Untied FC were in no mood for charity, as they whipped Marabella Family Crisis Centre 4-2 with goals coming from Earlon Thomas (19th and 90th), Jody Allsop (28th) and Ryan Stewart (69th). Kerlan Khan and Juma Clarence got on the scoresheet for the Marabella team.

Police FC played out a 2-2 draw with Siparia Spurs, after a topsy-turvy first 20 minutes which saw the Spurs race into the lead during a five-minute spell.

Andre Quashie opened the scoring in the 13th minute for the Spurs, however the lawmen restored parity a minute later through Atiba Peters. Andy London sent the Spurs into the lead in the 19th minute, and it was not until early in the second half that Jason Boodram levelled things once more for both teams to share the spoils.

In Tobago, Bethel United edged Stokely Vale 1-0, with Vernel Wilson netting the lone item.

There was a 0-0 stalemate however, as 1976 FC Phoenix and Matura Re United could not break the deadlock.
