JERRY MORRIS scored the only goal as BLAST edged Trendsetter Hawks 1-0 to win the Under-12 final of the 2014 Republic Bank National Youth Football League, which took place last Saturday at ‘Casual’s Corner’ in the Queen’s Park Savannah. The tournament saw over 60 teams from across Trinidad and Tobago, playing eleven-a-side football.

The winners from the various national zones progressed to the quarter-finals phase and then onto the semi-finals and finals. After five weekends of community football, the winners were able to distinguish themselves this weekend in the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 Groups.

The Under-12 final featured the four zone champions from around the country; Blast, Trendsetter Hawks, Jabloteh and Santa Rosa FC. Hawks advanced to the final with a 1-0 semi-final win over San Juan Jabloteh via a 28th minute goal from Real Gill, while BLAST posted a huge 6-0 win over Santa Rosa, getting goals from Jerry Morris (5th), Nickel Alexander(10th & 19th), Tyrel Willey (20th), Trevon Weekes (35th) and Josiah Daniel (40th). Later, Jabloteh whipped Santa Rosa 4-1 for third spot.
