RICHARD ROY scored a double in a losing attempt, as Defence Force had a near perfect comeback before falling 4-3 to Point Fortin Civic in the Flow Youth Pro League on Sunday at Mahaica Oval, Point Fortin.

The action took place in the Under-18/Reserve Division that caters for players over age 17, including older players of any age not getting regular play for their Pro League team, recovering from injury or just needing a “run” to build fitness.

Roy, a member of the Army’s Pro League team, scored twice early in the first half as Defence Force looked to stage a miracle comeback, after trailing the home team civic by a 4-0 margin. Nion Lammy scored twice, including an 11th minute penalty, following a very early Jeremiah Kesar goal, to see Civic in control at 3-0 when the half ended.

Kesar got his second goal of the match in the 57th as Civic went further ahead at 4-0, but the tide turned when the Army footballers netted three goals within an 11-minute period. Roy got two and Tevin Lessey the other in the 61st minute.

The Defence Force had half an hour to get an equaliser, but failed. Victory moved Civic to second on the standings, a point behind leaders San Juan Jabloteh, who dismantled second-from-bottom St Ann’s Rangers 6-2.
