Two second half goals in quick succession from Santa Rosa’s Kishun Seecharan  and Akeem Lopez sealed a 2-0 victory over Queen’s Park Cricket Club in the National Youth League under-15 fixture on Saturday.

Santa Rosa, with the road win, have extended their lead to six points with a total of 15 points with one Group A match left to play.

The Harvard Club recorded a more convincing 4-0 victory over Eagles United at the Debe Recreation Ground to narrow the gap between the second and third places in Group A. Josh Toussaint made the perfect start for Harvard when he opened the scoring just seven minutes in. Anferme Marin kept the momentum to score three minutes later.

Just before the half hour mark, Toussaint scored his double to put Harvard up 3-0, a score the team would keep until half time. The rout ended in 62nd minute when Glenroy Pierre scored to make it 4-0.

As of  the end of Match Day 7 in the NYL, Harvard’s Toussaint can boast of two doubles scored in the past two matches and six goals in five matches played, the highest in the division.

In Group B, home team Moruga Football Club were held to a scoreless draw by Club Sando at Grand Chemin in Moruga. Joe Public which were third in the group before the day are now in top position on nine points following an away 0-1 win over Cap Off Youths. Moruga’s draw dropped the team to second place on eight points while Club Sando sit in third on seven.

The results make for an  exciting final group stage fixture to be played next weekend. NYL’s under-17’s were in action on Sunday. Group B’s Club Sando jumped to the top of the standings with a 3-1 win over West Side Super Starz FC. Keston Frederick opened the scoring for West Side in the 28th minute, to add his third in as many matches.  His lone item was cancelled out ten minutes later by an unfortunate own goal.

Club Sando took the lead at the stroke of half time with Kiel Rebeiro’s effort to put the side up 2-1 at the break. After a battle in the second half, Kristoff Alexander finally put the match out of reach for West Side when he netted in the 88th. With the loss West Side Super Starz dropped into third place, level on nine points with Cap Off Youths.

In other matches, Joe Public dropped five goals on an unfortunate Tunapuna Titans. Ajene Imhotep netted a second half hat trick following Dwayne Calliste’s and Stephen Prescott’s first half goals.

A tired Tunapuna were in action twice on the day, to make up for their late addition to the fixtures. The second match was received by a 4-0 defeat to Cap Off Youths. Romario Blackette, Deon O’Garro and Kristophe Cooper scored first half goals before Kevin Williams finalised the scoring in the 77th minute.
 
In Group A, Mayaro Spurs and The Harvard Club played to a hard fought 3-3 draw. Akeem Roach opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Jahbarry Thomas put Harvard up by the 20th minute.

Keylon Thomas replied with a double of his own when he netted in the 28th and 44th minute to keep the two sides level 2-2 at half time. Harvard must have thought the match would stay in their favour when another in form Tafari Williams put the club 3-2 up in the 66th minute.

It was not to be, however, for Harvard as the team conceded another just two minutes later when Rendell Mc Intosh scored. The match remained that way and both sides had to settle for a point.

In that group, FC Santa Rosa are still on top with 13 points, despite their match against Eagles United being abandoned. Eagles are also in the same position as before on nine points.
