Defence Force added to San Juan Jabloteh's miserable season when the soldiers registered a 2-1 hardfought victory in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Digicel Pro Bowl on Friday night.

Devorn Jorsling netted the winner just before the hour mark at the Larry Gomes Stadium to book the Ross Russell side's place in the semifinal against Caledonia AIA on Friday 27 November.

Caledonia played in the earlier quarterfinal at the Malabar venue and registered a comfortable 5-0 win against St Ann's Rangers.

But in the second Group A quarterfinal the Soldiers played their hearts out as Jabloteh who relinquished the League Championship, Big Six and Toyota Classic this season saw the exit in the Pro Bowl.

Jerywn Balthazar's 24th minute strike gave the Soldiers a well deserved 1-0 advantage after a hard pressed opening period.

Balthazar picked up a pass inside the area and from close range he converted past former Army goalie Cleon John.

Five minutes later Kerry Joseph fired high over bar as Jabloteh were again on the defence.

Jabloteh scrapped a couple openings however Marvin Oliver's freekick was well over bar and in the 36th minute Travis Mulraine's tame shot was easily wrapped by Graham.

Seconds after the restart Jabloteh thought they had leveled the scores after the ball was knocked over the line by Oliver, however goalkeeper Graham gathered quickly and raced out of the goal sending the ball into play.

Marvin Oliver and company were in protest briefly but the officials ignored.

But there was no question in the 52nd minute when Hector Sam, lurking at far post, met Josh Johnson's cross and headed it past Graham to level the scores 1-1.

Excitement followed when Defence Force attacker Kevon Carter had a goal disallowed in the 57th minute.

But seconds later Devon Jorsling restored his team's advantage hammering a low shot past Cleon John for a 2-1 score as the Jabloteh defence broke again.

Cleon John was called to action on a few more instances and despite thwarting everything else his side didn't recover a second time.

Jabloteh's best chance of a second equalizer was denied by Defence Force goalie Graham who maintained his team's advantage in the 72nd minute when he made a one handed save to deny Ataulla Guerra's low blast from distance.

Vincentian veteran Kendall Velox netted a hattrick on Friday night as defending (Digicel) Pro Bowl champions rallied to a 5-0 win against St Ann's Rangers in the quarterfinals.

Velox opened the scoring fifteen minutes inside the match before wrapping up his hattrick in the second period with a pair of goals.

Stephan David made it 2-0 before the half followed by Velox's second and third item in the 56th and 65th minutes. And Guyanese wingback Walter Moore wrapped up the scores before the end for a 5-0 finish.

Caledonia are against Defence Force in the semifinal round next Friday. Defence Force registered a hardfought 2-1 win to oust San Juan Jabloteh in the second quarterfinal at the Malabar venue.

Velox got on the scoresheet first when he reacted early to teammate Akim Armstrong's ricocheted effort inside the six yard area to turn and volley past Fortunato Valcourt for a 1-0 advantage in the 15th minute.

Caledonia had a couple wide efforts later on through Keyon Edwards and defender Charles Pollard.

But veteran midfielder Stephan David comforted the Morvant/Laventille squad with a 2-0 cushion in the 36th minute.

David blasted from inside the area past Fortunato from a lose ball after Husani Thomas and Coneal Thomas failed to clear.

A minute and a half inside the second period Nicholas Valentine was denied by Caledonia Jamaican goalkeeper Kevin Graham when his on target header was parried away.

Rangers had another opening in the 52nd minute however Josimar Belgrave spilled wide with only goalkeeper Graham to beat.

One minute later Caledonia also missed the target when Akim Armstrong dribbled away from two defenders but his attempted chip towards far past was too high.

However to Rangers demise, Velox added his second on the night after a cross from the right sneaked through the defence and Vincentian made no mistake tapping it past Fortunato for a 3-0 score.

Then the Vincentian Velox then made it 4-0 in the 65th minute for the defending Pro Bowl champs completing his hattrick in a very same fashion as his second item--tapping in a cross from the right before he was later rested for his hard work.

Rangers didn't colapse just yet as the pressed for their opening item which never came.

In the 82nd minute Coneal Thomas had a crack on goal from the right however he only earned his team a corner after Graham made the save guiding it out.

Rangers struggle continued in the 86th minute when Guyanese wingback Walter Moore headed past Fortunato from Stephan David right side cross for a 5-0 score.

Rangers had a late buildup on the counter-attack but Jevon Morris was beaten to the ball by a sliding Nuru Abdallah Muhammed after the ball was slipped into the area by Coneal Thomas.

And in injury time Rangers' captain Devon Modeste earned his team a free kick just outside the area but the opportunity was wasted high into the air after taking it himself.
