Whim stops Bon Accord 2-1 to take Alfred Cup
Kellon James notched a double to lead Whim Anglican to its second Goderick Alfred Tobago Primary School Football Cup on Friday in the feature match at the opening ceremony Milo Tobago Primary School Football League. Whim Anglican became the first school to win the cup twice after coming from behind to defeat Bon Accord Government 2-1 victory at Shaw Park Recreation Ground, exacting revenge on the team that dethroned it last year by a similar scoreline. Whim also had a similar 2-1 victory in 2008 when it defeated Signal Hill Government in the final.James performance earned him the “Player of the Final” and he also won the Golden Ball Trophy for the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). Bon Accord Government started the sharper of the two teams and took the lead in the 10th minute when Javon Williams scored his sixth goal of the tournament.Williams beat Whim goalkeeper, Ato James, with a shot just inside the penalty area from an acute angle. James (Kellon) weaved his way past two defenders into the six-yard-box to give Whim the equaliser four minutes later.
