Former champions, Montgomery Government (2006) and Signal Hill Government (2005), played to a nail-biting 2–2 draw as action continued in the MILO Tobago Primary School Football League on Monday.
Montgomery took the lead in an even first half through Terelle Collins and went into the break up 1–0. However, the Signal Hill players began to assert themselves in the second half and equalised through Mikel Davidson.
Signal Hill had ample opportunity to win the game but Taffarel Joseph and Jabari Arnold both missed penalties with Joseph shooting wide and Montgomery’s goalkeeper, Zavian Hardware, saving Arnold’s spot-kick.
Arnold made amends later in the match with the go-ahead goal for Signal Hill, but they were made to pay for those missed penalties one minute later when Turrel James equalised for Montgomery, sending his schoolmates into celebratory relief.
Last year’s runner-up, Bethesda Government, rebounded from its defeat to title holder, Bon Accord Government with an 8–1 victory over Buccoo Government.
Kwame Mc Dougal’s hat-trick moved him one goal behind Taffarel Joseph in the Golden Boot Race on nine strikes, while Kwame Cadore assisted with a double.
Belle Garden Anglican romped to a 10–0 victory over Delaford RC with Trevis Wright’s five goals and Emmanuel Daniel’s hat-trick paving the way for the defending Windward Zone champion.
Goodwood Methodist, St Andrews Anglican, Roxborough Anglican and Speyside Anglican also registered victories.
Goodwood defeated Mt St George Methodist with Anson Phillips netting a hat-trick and Dejaughn Charles notching a double. St Andrews edged Hope Anglican 2–1 with goals from Klain Tobias and Shaquille Cox.
Roxborough won its third straight game defeating Pembroke 3–0 with a Tyreek Mahabal double and Speyside defeated Ebenezer Methodist by a similar scoreline with a Darrel Stevens brace helping the team to remain undefeated thus far.
