Carenage Boys Government School, yesterday earned their sixth Port-of-Spain and Environs Championship Football Trophy.

The four-time national champion defeated a determined Eastern Boys Government 3-0 at Fatima College ground, Mucurapo.

Captain Micah Lansiquot opened the scoring for the Carenage outfit in the 34th minute after a goalless first half. Lansiquot connected from the penalty spot.

The West A champion was put further ahead by the effort of Kathon St Hilaire, who manoeuvred around the Eastern Boys Government goalkeeper, to tap home in the 45rd minute.

Carenage went on to extend its lead when Travell Edwards converted from the penalty spot in the 55th minute.

Earlier, Kaydeen Jack scored a hattrick to see last year’s girls runner-up, St Agnes Anglican, to the title. St Agnes beat Carenage Girls, 3-2.

Jack netted her three goals in 12 minutes, giving St Agnes a 3-0 lead at the half before a spirited fight back by the Carenage unit. In their comeback effort, Carenage was rewarded in the 21st minute when St Agnes conceded an own goal.

Shania Lewis gave her team some hope when she netted in the 35th minute, to trail 3-2. The score stayed the same at the end of regulation time.
