Last year’s Atlantic National Primary School Girl’s champion Carapichaima RC School, failed in its attempt to defend its title, bowing out 1-0 to Toco Anglican in the first round of the national play-offs at the Arima Velodrome, on Wednesday.

Durelle Baldeosingh netted the winning item from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute. Next door, St George’s East champion Dinsley Trincity downed Sister’s Road Anglican 2-0 with goals from Alicia Dachan and Adonia Phillip.

Naticha John’s goal from the penalty spot earned St David RC a narrow 1-0 victory over Manzanilla-Nariva Government, to advance them to the quarter-final round.

Port-of-Spain title-holder St Agnes Anglican with goals from Kadine Jack and Candace Hall also moved on to the quarterfinals. St Agnes 2-0 win came against La Horquetta North. At the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Carenage Girls also suffered a close 1-0 loss to Vance River RC.

Scoring the winning item was Denesia Prince. At the same venue, Candace Eli posted a double to help Vos Government vanquish Iere Government 3-0. Her teammate Latisha Joseph connected the third item.

Yesterday, the boys action began with champion Arima Boy’s RC destroying Gasparillo Govt 7-0 at Mannie Ramjohn Stadium.

Vos Government were also in winner’s row after beating Moruga AC 2-1. At the Arima Velodrome Carenage Boy raced into the quarter-finals with a 4-0 whipping of Couva South, while Eastern Boys destroyed Otoire RC 7-0.

Also at the venue Tunapuna Boys RC beat Valencia South Gov’t 2-0. At Woodford Lodge, Santa Flora Gov’t edged Chaguanas RC 2-1. All Tobago matched will be contested on Tuesday before the quarter-finals begin on November 11.
