Newly called up senior team defender Tristan Hodge turned down a scholarship opportunity to play football in the United States in order to play professionally here. That decision he says, was based on the desire to make the national team. And playing for DirecTV Connection was the stepping stone, the player said.

Hodge made his debut against Grenada in March and is in the T&T squad for the three upcoming friendlies with Peru, Uruguay and China.

“My dad has been the one to always pushed me and from a young age I wanted to make the national team. I gave up the chance to play at College level in the United States because I wanted to make the national team and I felt that playing in the Pro League would help me get there faster,” Hodge said.

“I am happy I made the decision because now I am here. At W Connection they pushed me a lot and my time with the club helped my gave to develop and I got the opportunity to play and be seen by the coaches. I hope I can play in the upcoming matches because these are big games for us and it can do great things for our game and our development,” Hodge said.
