National goalkeeper Marvin Phillip is eying a return to action before month end after being cleared to return to training on Tuesday.

Phillip was ruled out of the recent Gold Cup qualifiers and the two friendlies in Nicaragua after suffering a shoulder injury during the training camp with the national team.

“I should be back on the training field this Tuesday,” Phillip said.

“It was unfortunate that the injury came at that time because I was really looking forward to being part of the team’s efforts in Nicaragua and in the Gold Cup playoffs.

“This year is a big year for our football. It’s going to be a hectic period even though it is unfortunate we are not going to be at the Gold Cup.

I’ve been to three Gold Cups as a player and it’s been great experiences. But now we have to focus on what is there for us to contest and that is obviously going to be the World Cup qualifiers because I believe we are still in with a good enough chance of making it to Russia.”
