National Under-20 captain, Mariah Shade was obviously not tired after leading T&T to a 5-0 victory over St Lucia on Wednesday night as she returned to her school team, Debe High, yesterday, to score five of its 15 goals against Moruga, in the Girls Secondary Schools Football League.
Debe took full advantage of the inexperienced Moruga Secondary which is yet to win a match in its 2009 SSFL Campaign, and fell one goal short of the record 16-0 drubbing it put on it in the first round.
Following in their captain’s footsteps, Alana Lewis and Stephanie Beam both scored four goals while Elizabeth Ng Wai netted the other two. Whitney Pitt was most instrumental in handing East Zone table topper, Toco Secondary its first taste of defeat yesterday as she scored both of El Dorado’s goals in its 2-0 victory.
Toco however, have more or less already taken the East Zone title, with just two matches left against less than formidable sides. In Tobago, Roxborough Secondary are marching full speed ahead to the Tobago title, with its victim this week being Bishop’s High which it beat 6-1.
Roxborough’s most prolific scorer, Natalia Benjamin scored three goals, Kerrisha George two and the other was an own goal by Shele Johnson. Scarborough Secondary also recorded a similar victory, whipping Mason Hall Secondary 6-1. Share Guerra (three), D’Jave Cipriani, Shianne Thomas and Crysti-Ann Roberts getting their names on the scorecard for Scarborough, while Leandra Thomas scored for Mason Hall. The league continues on Sunday.
