St Francois Girls’ College and Providence Girls’ kept things hot in the North Zone yesterday, as they both registered victories in the BGTT Girls’ Secondary Schools North/East InterCol competition.

Two-time North Zone champions, Providence Girls’ were dethroned by new comers, St Francois this year in the League and are looking to make amends in the InterCol competition.

The winner of the North East InterCol, will then have a chance at the national InterCol title. St Francois were able to get the better of St Augustine Girls College 3-1, as the East Zone last place finisher continued its poor form at the Queen’s Royal College Grounds, Port-of-Spain.

Providence were given a brief scare early in the first half as they conceded a penalty, which Shanice Pascall scored. They later recovered thanks to the dependable pair of Brittaney Farah and Samantha Kissoon though to hold on for a 2-1 victory.

Also in the North/East competition, a lone strike by Tamia Joseph, saw St George’s College past Malick Secondary at the St George’s College Grounds, Barataria.

In the South Zone, leading Point Fortin scorer, Kerchelle Torres saw her side home once more against Fyzabad Anglican scoring one goal while Sherelle Squires scored the other in a 2-1 win.
