Presentation College San Fernando maintained its top position in the Premier Division of the Secondary Schools Football League yesterday when it clobbered Trinity College Moka 3-1 at the Trinity ground in Maraval.
The win move them to 25 points, a mere two points advantage on their arch rivals Naparima College who were also winners on the day, edging Carapichaima 2-1 at their Lewis Street Recreation Ground home. Under coach Angus Eve, the dangerous Ronaldo Mc Intosh fired in two goals in the 53rd and 57rth minutes to assure them a come from behind victory, after the visitors snatched an early lead in the 8th minute from Theophilus Bourne.
At QRC Ground in St Clair, the home team continued their decline on the standing, falling to their seven defeat 1-3 at the hands of arch rivals St Mary’s College under new coach Nigel Grovsnor at home.
Like they did in their previous two matches, the Royalians scored first when Miguel Williams found the nets in the 34th minute.
Thereafter it was all the Saints who found the equaliser on the stroke of half-time from Devon Charles, the scorer of two goals in their last 6-0 triumph over Speyside. And then Tyrese Spicer handed them the lead with his item in the 51st. The Royalians’ form this season was summed up by a horrific own-goal by Jabari Mitchell in the 69th minute which planted them firmly at the bottom of the standing with just five points from 10 matches.
