Naparima College and Scarborough Secondary do battle today at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella for the final spot in the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Big Five final.

The encounter will be a case of two schools trying to forge their way back onto the national football scene once more.

Naparima College, the five-time national InterCol champions, managed to eke out a narrrow one-point South Zone title win this year.

And although Naps have always been a force to reckon with at the national level-qualifying for several national InterCol finals-they haven't claimed a national crown since 2000 when they lifted the last of their five InterCol titles.

Their last success in the Big Five dates back to 1999, the year of their national double triumph (InterCol and League) when they won a heated and controversial replay match against El Dorado Senior Comprehensive.

So manager Roy Jagroopsingh and his charges will be hoping to keep their Big Five focus on course with a win today against the boys from Tobago.

After the heady days of zonal and national accolades in 2001 and 2002, the departure of key players left Scarborough a much weaker squad last year.

However, the core of that team returned this season to orchestrate a successful campaign in the Tobago Zone.

The shorter and less intense league campaign in the sister isle would have the Scarborough outfit well rested for today's tussle. But they will need to be at their sharpest against a Naparima College team that has always shown a hunger for national kudos.

Kick off at Marabella is 4 p.m.
