The battle for the League Championship honours in the boys Division in the Tobago Zone of Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Football Association 2011 season will commence on September 14 with competitive games minus the formalities.

Action in the other two Divisions, Girls and Senior will commence soon after, the Girls Division on September 18 and the Senior Division on September 20. The date for the start of the Under 14 Division will be announced soon.

The Girls Division boasts the most teams, six. They are Signal Hill Comprehensive Secondary, Roxborough Secondary, Scarborough Secondary, Bishop's High School, Speyside High School and Mason Hall Government Secondary.

Battling for the right to represent Tobago in the National Big Five and prestigious Inter-Col tournaments are Signal Hill Comprehensive Secondary, Scarborough Secondary, Mason Hall Government Secondary, Speyside High School and newly promoted Pentecostal Light and Life. There are only three teams in the Senior Division, Roxborough Secondary that was demoted last year, Goodwood High and Bishop's High School.

A League official told the Tobago News that he cannot give a reason for the small number of teams in the Senior Division but noted that there should be more, because he said that it is the Division where players can gain valuable experience and exposure as they prepare to battle for a place on their school's Championship team.

He also noted that this is the Division where Schools that are not in the Championship Division can earn promotion and it should be a feeder for the Championship Division teams.

He added that because there is no longer an Under 16 Division, this is another reason that there should be more teams in this Division.
