This year for the first time the T&T Pro League and the Super League have agreed to join forces and will host what will be known as the Toyota Cup.

The tournament will be another exciting knockout competition, which will be played in September. It will feature all seven Pro League teams and the top five Super League teams, making up a 12-team tournament.

This was revealed at the official launch of the 2005 edition of the Super League, Anthony Harford of All Sports Promotion, which is the marketing arm of the Super League said “This is the first time the two League’s will come together and I am anticipating an exciting competition.”

He added, “I want to thank Dexter Skeene the Chief Executive Officer of the T&T Pro League for the cordial manner in which the tournament was arranged and we look forward to the two organizations continuing to work closely for the betterment of football in Trinidad and Tobago.”

Mr. Skeene stated “The Pro League thought it would have been a good idea to bring together the two top League’s in the country in a knockout tournament, and we were able to attract the sponsorship of Toyota for one of our major knockout tournaments and hence we decided to invite the top five Super League teams.”

The Pro League Ceo assured that the two local football bodies will continue working closely together to ensure football in T&T continues to grow and more importantly the community aspect continues to grow in the football fraternity.
