YOUTH STARS United whipped promoted Black Rock 4-2 recently to end the first round of the Tobago Football Association atop the standings.

The Youth Stars got a hat-trick from Anderson Taylor and another goal from Akeel Sterling while Atiba Roberts and Kenvern Marcelle scored for the losers.

The game was only two minutes old when Taylor fired in his first for the Youths and doubled up in the ninth minute. But Roberts pulled one back for Black Rock in the 26th minute only for Sterling to net one minute later to make it a 3-1 half time scoreline. Taylor scored his third in the 70th for the Youths to lead 4-1 before Marcelle got on the score sheet with a 90th minute goal.

FA Cup winners Sidey’s downed Goal City 3-1 to keep up their challenge to the leaders four points back. An own goal gave the men from Speyside the lead in the 39th minute which they took into the half time break.

Glenroy Frederick netted in the 68th minute to make it 2-0, but Andel King scored for Goal City in the 74th and it was game on before the prolific Pavel Warrick iced the victory in the 86th. Golden Lane recovered from a goal down by ex-national player Cyd Gray in the 50th minute to beat Roxborough Lakers 2-1 with goals from Tyrone Manning in the 70th and the winner from Jayvon Quash in the 73rd.

Lowly Bethel got an 89th minute goal from Kurt Campbell to upset Georgia 3-2.

Georgia’s ace striker Kerron Phillips opened the scoring in the second minute but Adrian Morris put Bethel level in the 25th.

Phillip got his second of his hattrick in the 26th, but one minute later the scores were level again when Bert Leith scored.

Phillip again put Georgia ahead in the 52nd minute before Campbell’s heroics.
