DEFENDING champions Roxborough Lakers scraped into the quarter-finals of the Digicel Tobago Football Association (TFA) FA Cup by virtue of a 4-3 scoreline after penalty kicks against Eastern Division team Moriah Youths.

Keegan Proctor netted for the underdogs, Moriah Youths, while Rennie John replied for Lakers, who held their nerve from close-up, following the exciting 1-1 draw.

Also taking their exit from the FA Cup were Premier Division teams, league champions Stokely Vale, Mega Brite Bethel United, St Clair Coaching School, Earlbrokes and Georgia United.

Stokely Vale lost 4-3 on penalty kicks to fellow top flight club Pepsi Hills United. The scores were even at 2-2 at the conclusion of regular time.

Newly-promoted Dominion Golden Lane FC thwarted seasoned campaigners in the top bracket, Bethel United, 5-4 in a penalty kick shoot-out, after a goalless stalemate at Plymouth on Wednesday.

And Castara Retreats Goal City got the better of Earlbrokes 1-0 in the opening game of a double-header at Goodwood on Thursday night.

In the second game, Charlotteville Unifiers squeezed past Georgia United 2-1.

Duane Murray and Keon McKenzie did the trick for Unifiers, while Deon Orr replied for Georgia.

At Montgomery on the same day, Carnbee/Mt Pleasant upset former title-holders Coaching School 5-4 on kicks from the spot following a keenly-contested goalless draw in regulation time.

Biggest winners of the round of 16 were Western Conference leaders Black Rock United, who drowned HV Milan 6-1 on Wednesday at Canaan.

Prolific former Scarborough Secondary player Michael Carrington and Mawusi Cummings notched doubles, while there was a goal apiece for Reginald Duke and Selvin Duncan.

And in another clash among the lower division teams, NLCB beat up on Bethel Uprising 3-0 on the training ground at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet.

Kurt Archie, Curt Cromarty and Rodney Nelson provided the strikes for Mt Grace.
