SUPPORTERS of Roxborough Lakers were dancing in the streets from the Dwight Yorke Stadium into Roxborough.

These celebrations were touched off by the FA Trophy victory by Roxborough Lakers who thumped Charlotteville Unifiers 4-1 to capture the prestigious title in the Tobago Football Association on Sunday.

Along with the trophy, the footballers from Roxborough also collected a fat $20,000 cheque.

Before the start of the match, there was a minute’s silence in honour of the life of John Waldron an avid footballer who died in a road accident recently, and the trophy was aptly named after him.

Kern Harris got a double strike and Kwesi Beckles and Grevon Crooks one each for Lakers while Kalson Dalrymple got the consolation goal.

Meanwhile, Black Rock United, the first-ever team from the Conference to appear in an FA Trophy series failed in their bid to clinch that title.

They were out-scored 6-4 by Hills United for whom Eustace Stewart was a big hero. Stewart scored five of the goals for the “Men from the Hill” while Esron Hinds got the other from a penalty spot.

Adrian Morris knocked in two goals and Philroy Douglas and Michael Carrington one each for Black Rock.

In Zonal A & B Conference play-offs, Eastern Conference leaders Youth Stars edged Moriah Youths 3-2 with Jimoke Sheppard scoring all three goals for the winners. Kevin Henry netted a double for the losing team.

Hope Village Milan beat Bethel Uprising 2-1 with goals by Marcano Collette. Glenroy Thomas netted the consolation.

But 1976 FC Phoenix and Mason Hall Police Youth Club drew 1-1.

Sherwin Rose scored for Phoenix while Kerlan Charles replied for the youth club men.
