Joevin Jones (right) vs Hayden Tinto of Joe Public.Joevin Jones supported Manchester United in the last UEFA Champions League and dreams about one day following the trail of T&T players, to play on the grand stage in Europe but before that, he hopes to impress for the W Connection in the upcoming Concacaf Champions League.

Jones lined up for Stuart Charles Fevrier’s outfit in the recent Caribbean Club Championship where they finished runners-up to Caledonia AIA. Connection is set to open their Champions League account against Guatemala’s Xelaju at home on August 2.

“The Caribbean Cup was difficult because all four teams really wanted to win it badly and move on to the Champions League. Every player wishes to reach the highest level and we at Connection wanted to qualify badly,” Jones said. “The club missed out for a few years but now we are honoured to be back in it and we want to go all the way to the final and win it if possible.

This is the big stage for us and I think we could help get T&T’s name back on the map in Concacaf,” said Jones, who was part of the T&T Olympic team that participated at the Concacaf final round in Los Angeles in February.

“This year Connection has a good all round team and we will use our experience of the past Champions League matches to try and go a step further this time,” added Jones, who recently penned a three-year deal with the club.

“This is my first Champions League so I’m very excited to get out there and try and help Connection bring home some victories,” Jones added.

The 20-year-old has 12 senior international appearances for T&T since making his debut in September 2010 against Panama under ex-head coach Russell Latapy.
