DIRECTV North East Stars have announced open trials for their Under 14, 16 and 18 teams to represent the Pro League club in the ProLeagues' Oasis Youth League.

The trials will take place at Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande on Saturday 28th January (Under 14's) and Sunday 29th January (Under 16's & Under 18's), from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. with registration at 8.15 a.m., while the following weekend, trials will be held at the Larry Gomes Stadium Training Field on Saturday 4th February (Under 14's) and Sunday 5th February (Under 16's & Under 18's) from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. with registration at 8.15 a.m.

Boys wanting to try out for the teams should walk with a red shirt, dark pants and shin guards.

North East C.E.O.,Brent Sancho said " We are always excited about open trials. You're always hoping you'll discover the next Kenwyne Jones or Dwight Yorke amongst the boys. Over the last 12 months I've been scouting young talent for our reserve team and managed to sign some great young talent such as Darryl Trim from St Anthonys who was his leagues top scorer, Alvin Jones, who at only 16 is already a mature, cultured defender and captain of our Reserve team, Marcus Gomez, the most exciting forward in the Arima League and 19 year old Neil Williams, a National Youth player who is considered to be the country's best  natural midfielder of his age group."

North East Stars' Head Coach, Brazilian Emerson Alcantara went on to add " These boys, while still under 19 years old, will play a big part in the future of DIRECTV North East Stars. Joining our youth teams is the first step to a career in professional football. There are so many young talented players in Trinidad & Tobago and we must get to them before they are stolen from us by the distractions of crime and gang culture. Its not just football ability that makes a great professional, its attitude, self belief and determination. We have a duty to our communities to give these boys a way out."

Sancho added "Its a funny season at North East at the moment. The staff are so positive and excited about our young players coming through, yet our Senior Team results have been frustrating. Our League position does not reflect our performances. We have not conceded more than two goals in a ProLeague game and never lost this season by more than one goal. Our defence is strong, but we can't seem to hit the back of the net! In fact, had we scored one more goal in each of the last five games, we would have 13 points and things would look totally different."

Coach Alcantara said "We are not panicking. We will continue to defend well and we feel we have resolved the goal scoring problems. We have over half the season left and three cups to play for. I expect us to be challenging for the League title and bringing some silverware back home. North East is a great club, with great supporters and the results will come in the near future."
