Get ready for an exciting 2005 season as the T&T Pro League launches its 5th season.

The league will kick off this coming weekend on Saturday 9th April, 2005 and will see CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh versus Caledonia AIA/Fire at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium and Vibe CT 105 W Connection facing off with North East Stars at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

Chief Executive Officer of the League Dexter Skeene is anticipating another bumper season, Mr. Skeene said, “The league continues to grow in stature and we will be looking to build on the successes we enjoyed in 2004.”

This year there will be two new look teams—Caledonia AIA Fire, formerly Arima Morvant Fire and United Petrotrin, which will encompass the communities of Moruga, Mayaro, Guayayuare, Point Fortin, Marabella, Gasparillo, La Brea, Beach Camp, Fyzabad, Penal and Palo Seco.

Mr. Skeene believes that the participation of Petrotrin augurs well for the league.

However, it is regrettable that Starworld Strikers football club will not be making a return in 2005, due to the inability of the club to provide the league with the necessary financial guarantees that will ensure they will be able to fulfill its contractual obligations to its players.

Therefore the T&T Pro League board of directors met and decided to suspend Starworld for the 2005 season.

Mr. Dexter Skeene stressed, “The decision regarding Starworld Strikers, further displays the League’s commitment to seek the best interest of all its stakeholders.

However, the former national striker was quick to point out, that Starworld’s management has made a tremendous contribution to the league and its development, and the club did make a valiant effort to resolve their situation in order to compete in the 2005 season.

Mr. Skeene ended by saying, “Giving the contribution of Starworld in the past, it was a difficult decision to make, but we look forward to Starworld making a return in the future.”
