Both St Ann’s Rangers and San Juan Jabloteh secured wins in the First Match Day in Round Two of the Oasis Youth Pro League Under-16 division, to leapfrog title favourites W Connection, on Sunday.

Rangers had little trouble taking all three points in its 4-1 drubbing of North East Stars, on the road, at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima. The win for Rangers was the second in seven days, adding another goal in its 3-1 win against the same opponent.

Omari George, who scored the second item in the last encounter, opened in the 16th minute, before Makesi Hoyce and Sean Bonval made it 3-0.

Taje Commissiong, one of North East Stars most promising players pulled one back in the 78th, but the match was laid to rest less than a minute later, when Jamal Philbert scored to make it 4-1.

The match followed a 3-0 win for Rangers over the same club in the Under-14 division. Raheem Borde (23rd), Matthaus Granger (28th) and Khiesa Granger (231st) scored in the comfortable win for the third placed Rangers team.

Fourth placed North East Stars got a 2-1 win in the Under-18 division to go only two points behind Rangers, which had the chance to go clear in second place with a draw or win. San Juan Jabloteh got the slightest of wins, a 1-0 result, over Police in the Under-16 division, to remain tied for first place.

The matches were played at St Joseph Convent Ground, St Clair. An Akeem Garcia 40th minute penalty earned the win for Jabloteh, which has been impressive in the division this season.

Jabloteh also maintained the top spot in the Under-14 division when it defeated the same team 2-0, with goals from Romario Villafana and Ealie Stephon, in quick succession. Police got the edge in the Under-18 division in the thrilling encounter, at St Joseph Convent Ground, St Clair.

Police came from behind twice, and then took a two goal lead, before surviving a late scare, to win 4-3. Meanwhile, W Connection dropped its first points of the season, but remains unbeaten after being held to a goal-less stalemate by T&TEC, in the Under-18 division.

Connection now sits on 22 points, eight more than nearest challengers, T&TEC and St Ann’s Rangers, both of which are on 14 points.
