Caledonia AIA on Saturday night ended North East Stars' undefeated Digicel Pro League run with a 1-0 win at the Ato Boldon Stadium and in the process kept within reach of leaders Defence Force.

Caledonia, with a match in hand and 16 points in second, remain just three points away from Defence Force (19 points).

The Soldiers trashed St. Ann's Rangers 8-0 on Friday night at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium to continue their hold of the top.

And while Caledonia may have only edged the Sangre Grande club 1-0 with a superb goal by striker Trevin Caesar, the Jerry Moe coached-Morvant-Laventille club was surely delighted with full points and getting one back against the Angus Eve's men which defeated them 3-1 in Match Day One of the League.

North East Stars (10 points), undefeated in their previous six League matches, slipped a spot into fourth on the standings and DIRECTV W Connection moving into third with 12 points.

Stars came closest to an item in the 37th minute when a poked attempt by Kerry Baptiste off a hard-worked Elijah Manners cross slipped under goalkeeper Glenroy Samuel who eventually gathered.

But in the 39th minute the Stars defense was destroyed by a quick run on the left by Caesar and goalkeeper Cleon John beaten by the Tobagonian forward for the 1-0 score.

In the 76th minute Ataullah Guerra should have had Caledonia two-goals ahead but blasted just wide, only shaving the side netting with his right footed effort from inside the area.

Nonetheless Guerra, influential midfielders Densill Theobald and Keyon Edwards and the lightening Caesar all celebrated a win in the end.
