TT Pro League Chief Executive Officer Dexter Skeene wants to up the ante and increase the prize money scheme for TT Pro League clubs to 3 million dollars.

That’s a one hundred percent increase from the current 1.5 million dollar prize money scheme shared between clubs.

Skeene, a former national striker and St Mary's College standout and  a graduate of Ivy League school Columbia University in New York, believes that all the stakeholders involved in professional football in T&T must work individually and collectively to take professional football to a higher level.

He stated: “The TT Pro League teams qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions League  must not only be satisfied to simply qualify but to win and move on to the FIFA Club championship. We have to be fearless and set big goals. I feel that we have settled into a comfort zone and more focused on survival rather than growth.”

Skeene, who is working on a new business and commercial development plan for the league, is confident that a 3 million prize money structure is not an unrealistic target.

Part of the review that he is undertaking is aimed at proposing to the League's board of directors, a new approach to the way the league value's its commercial relationships.

“I am not convinced that we are maximizing our value proposition that we necessarily have the right fit and right price,” continued Skeene. “I want the league to look beyond sponsorship and focus on how to work closely in partnership with businesses to achieve win-win results. This requires a clear understanding of what represents value for businesses and how to position the TT Pro League as compelling and competitive. We need to build the value proposition of the league.”
