Defending Champions National Quarries North East Stars have wasted no time in moving on after the exodus of a few key players from their squad.

The Sangre Grande Stars have acquired Jabloteh defender Ancil Elcock, Mayaro United midfielder Shervin Charles, along with two Guyanese midfielders Travis Waterton and Kelvin Mc kensie.

These signings were necessary for the League Champions as they were forced to terminate the contracts of 5 players including the experienced Guyanese trio of Carey Harris, Abassi Mc Pherson and Kayode Mc kinnon.

Club owner Darrel Mahabir said, “These signings are just a matter of rebuilding and moving on.”

Ancil Elcock, a former National defender, now 35 years old, is full of experience, having also played Major League Soccer in the U.S., while Shervin Charles, is a bright young 20-year-old midfield prospect.

The two Guyanese based players hails from Georgetown—Travis Waterton is a big defensive midfielder, and Kelvin Mc ensie is a sturdy midfield player.

The Sangre Grande based unit have lost serious ground in their title defence, as they are currently in 5th place on 16 points, some 17 points behind leaders W Connection.
