Joe Public defender Devon Caseman coming off a groin injury enjoyed an excellent game against the ‘Oilmen’ where he scored the winner for the ‘Eastern Lions’ and he believes that his team can again take home the League title for a second year running.

Speaking with ‘ttproleague.com’ after his team’s 1-0 victory against United Petrotrin on Saturday, which placed Joe Public second on the table and one point behind San Juan Jabloteh, Caseman said, “The title is still in our hands and we are going after it.”

Joe Public are the defending League Champions after winning the illustrious title in 2006 under then head coach Michael Mc Comie.

But now under the care of Cuban coaches Domingo Hernandez and Manuel Rodriguez in 2007, Caseman says his team is building momentum.

The Public defender added, “Right now we are now starting to mesh as a team. We understand each other very well in matches and our game is improving. At the moment our football is coming along bit by bit,” he said.

Caseman for his game winning free kick and strong influence in defence for the ‘Eastern Lions’ was voted ‘Man of the Match’ against United Petrotrin at the Pale Seco Recreation Ground.

Despite his team’s 1-0 win over the ‘Oilmen’ he wasn’t too pleased with the overall performance, but was satisfied with the results.

He added, “We weren’t up to scratch, but three points away from home was very important for us.”

Commenting on his goal, Caseman felt sympathy for goal keeper Tristan Charles, but was grateful with the end result saying, “It got a deflection off the wall and it was harsh for the goal keeper going the wrong way, but it’s a goal and however it is was, we got three points out of it.”

Joe Public meet Defence Force on Tuesday in their Round Two match Day Three fixture and Caseman wants full points promising entertaining football, “We are going again for three points when we face Defence Force in our next match.”

“We are going to continue working hard as a team and if we can’t score goals then we will not allow anyone to score against us,” forecasted the Joe Public defender.
