Defence Force skipper Anton Pierre stated that he was glad to be part of the recent revival of his team.

Since the Gold Cup break Defence Force have been one of the hottest teams in the Pro League registering an impressive run that included wins against Defending champions Joe Public and first round leaders Caledonia and the rock of the Army’s defence skipper Anton Pierre has put it down to plain hard work.

“During the break we trained very hard and made a lot of sacrifices just telling ourselves that we had to get out of that hole and now we a reaping the reward of that work.”

Pierre paid tribute to his players’ performance on the day, “I want to give a lot of credit to the guys, I was quite happy with the effort and the energy the team has been putting out.”

He also thanked the loyal Defence Force fans, “I also want to thank all our loyal supporters, who were behind us when we were down and out and to see where we stand in the league now.”

The veteran player who was part of the victorious Defence Force team in the early days of local professional football stated it is good to be part of this Army revival and be leading the team, “I joined the Army in 98 and we won the PFL in 99 so all I knew was winning in the Army so the last few years where we have been losing have been hard, but I am glad to be part of this revival.”

Pierre who was named Man of the match for the game against San Juan Jabloteh said he plans to compete until age thirty-five, “Age is just a number and the way I feel now I feel that I can play up to age thirty-five and beyond.”

Looking at his season the Defence Force senior player said, “As a team we are looking to be in the top two, nothing is impossible for us at this point.”
