After being sent off his team’s bench in their hard fought 2-1 win over North East Stars, Defence Force head coach Kerry Jamerson apologized for his behavior and classified the whole incident leading to his expulsion as unfortunate.

“The whole incident was unfortunate I do not want to say it was the referees fault but the whole thing was unfortunate”,

Jamerson who is known for his passion and love for the game stated, “Having to be ejected from the bench is unfortunate because in the heat of the game I did not use any obscene language, I just stressed that the play should have been called back and the player carded.”

The former National Player continued, “I want to apologize for not leaving the bench immediately, but with football one can get very passionate especially when one feels you are on the wrong end of a decision.”

The man who has led Defence Force to a near miraculous revival since the Gold Cup break was hesitant to criticize the referee but offered a word of advice, “Local referees must understand that they are there to facilitate game, not to star or influence the outcome of the game and that is all I have to say on that.”

Looking at his team’s performance on the night Jamerson stated, “I think the team played below par today, Richard Roy for one had a sub par game I do not know if it is because Jorsling was out suspended today or the style of the North East team, but Roy should have at least gotten a double tonight.”

The coach who has been preaching about returning Army to the glory days all season said he thought that his team probably took North East too lightly, but warned that over confidence will not become part of his team, “The guys may have taken North East Stars too lightly because of the good run of form we have being making but we must be careful not to let over confidence step in.”

Jamerson said he was looking to finish the round in the top three in the standings and possibly claim the top position midway into the next round. A month ago such a statement would have been taken lightly but now such a prediction will be viewed very seriously by all. What a difference a month can make!
