CLICO San Juan Jabloteh are on the brink of the 2008 T&T Pro League and Lucozade Big Six titles after a typically workmanlike 3-1 win over Economy North East Stars yesterday at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar.
One point against W. Connection tomorrow at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva would be enough for Jabloteh to regain their league crown, although Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick will be wary of their southern rival's momentum.

Jabloteh were two points clear of Connection at kick off yesterday and, based on their record this season, could not have picked a better opponent. Stars are one of just two Pro League teams that failed to disrupt Jabloteh in 2008-the other is Ma Pau FC-and the match started according to the script as goals from Jerol Forbes and Jason Marcano put them two goals clear in the first half.

Forbes, released by Marcano, stepped inside his marker and smashed past Stars goalkeeper Andrew Durant in the 34th minute for his 11th goal from 14 games since swapping United Petrotrin for Jabloteh. Seven minutes later, Forbes returned the favour as he played a diagonal Elton John pass into Marcano's path and the winger also finished smartly.

Stars were always in the hunt, though, and the only surprise was that midfielder Leslie "Tiger" Fitzpatrick, arguably the game's outstanding player, was not directly involved in their lone item.

On the stroke of halftime, Fitzpatrick stepped over a free kick and Akeil Guevara rolled the ball for Stars captain Anthony Wolfe whose powerful low drive squirmed under the outstretched hand of Jabloteh custodian Cleon John.

Jabloteh had the last word, though, as two minutes from time, team captain and the Pro League's most consistent performer Trent Noel curled a free kick past Durant.
