Police FC have assured their participation in the 2009 TT Pro League season and will be lining up together with the rest of the teams after missing last season.
“We will be participating in the 2009 Pro League season,” assured Technical Director Muhammad Isa. “We received the go ahead and we are putting things in place for the season ahead. We are at the point of screening sessions where we will pick out a few players before beginning training in February,” he said. Police FC made their debut year in 2007 and finished just ahead of Tobago United in ninth.

Secretary of the Police Sports Club Igrid Maxwell gave details of the new coaching staff that will take the Lawmen into 2009. Coaches Kerry Franklyn, Kevin Joseph, Richard De Coteau and Calvin Hughes and trainer Chris Bailey will make up the new coaching staff working alongside Isa. “Kevin Joseph and Richard De Coteau were attached to Joe Public football club last season and Calvin Hughes with Ma Pau Sports Club in coaching capacities and we are hoping that with their collective effort this season, it will bring good things for us,” said Maxwell. Current T&T goalkeeping coach Michael Maurice, who coached the Lawmen in 2007, will no longer be attached to the club.

Maurice is currently with the T&T Men’s Senior Team in a training camp in Argentina preparing for the World Cup qualifiers this year. Meanwhile, Muhammad Isa is still far from naming players to his roster, something he hopes to do at the beginning of February.

“We have players who were attached to clubs throughout T&T last season. They have been active and that’s good for us. We are still in a screening period so we will not be able to name any players just yet,” said Isa. Isa and his coaching entourage have been running screening sessions throughout the month of January with the Police barracks in St James being one of the locations.
