TT Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene was delighted to announce the continued participation of ten clubs for the 2010 season following Thursday’s Board of Directors Meeting at the League’s Office in Curepe.

“After deliberation by the Board of Directors yesturday, we are happy to announce that all of the clubs from 2009 [with the exception of United Petrotrin FC] will be participating in the 2010 Pro League,” said the Pro League CEO.

League winners Bmobile Joe Public, San Juan Jabloteh, Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille, W Connection, Ma Pau SC, Defence Force, FC SouthEnd, St Ann’s Rangers, Tobago United and Police FC are confirmed for the upcoming season.

“The League is poised for another exciting season,” continued Skeene. “After some lengthy discussions by the board of directors, the League has committed to the continuously increase its focus on crowd attendance and participation.”

With continued television broadcast on CCN TV6 and further marketing for the League, Skeene added that there are a lot of surprises to unfold in the upcoming season.

Meantime former League champions North East Stars are on the possible brink of Pro League return after opting out of the 2009 season because of unplayable conditions at their Sangre Grande Recreation Grounds.

The Grounds are still in a deplorable state, however Stars owner Darryl Mahabir believes that ongoing negotiations with the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation will be in favour of the club to have the venue ready in time for the 2010 season.

Only then will the Sangre Grande based club will commit to the 2010 return.

The Board of Directors granted Stars an extension of one week in which to submit their application to re-join the League.

“The board has given North East Stars another week to make sure that the (Sangre Grande Recreation) ground is ready for use,” said Skeene. “And Darryl Mahabir is confident that the Corporation will give their support in getting the ground ready so that the club can have their home games.”

In relation to new applicants, 2009 Super League runners-up T&TEC FC preferred to focus on 2011 for their TT Pro League debut.
