Bmobile Joe Public were the stars of the night when the TT Pro League hosted its 2009 Awards at the SPALKERS Restaurant and Sports Bar, in St. Ann’s on Wednesday night.

The 2009 five title winners enjoyed a total of eight accolades apart of accepting their Digicel Pro League Championship, Big Six, Toyota Classic and Digicel Pro Bowl titles leaving just  two special awards available in the senior division.

Public forward and captain Kerry Baptiste earned the top award of the 2009 Toyota Player of the Year and a Toyota Yarris to close off the night.

In his opening remarks at the 2009 Awards, TT Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene explained the importance of the league.

He said, “The TT Pro League is important because it allows people to use their God given talents to earn an honest and professional living. It also allows poverty and crime reduction.”

Skeene went on to explain, “There are those who would not receive awards, however their involvement were crucial to their clubs and should be applauded.”

Baptiste, a nominee in 2007 and 2008 for the Player of the Year award was also instrumental in the club’s Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation FA Trophy.

His 48 goals in all competitions featured 34 items in the League Championship that earned him the Golden Boot and Best Forward awards—giving him a hattrick on the night.

Joe Public had more to celebrate  with Trent Noel picking up the Best Midfielder award and Keyeno Thomas and Alejandro Figueroa who have both made the switch to Ma Pau SC during preseason getting the Best Defender and Best Goalkeeper awards respectively.

Another very influential characteristic of Joe Public’s successes last season was rookie coach Derek King  who was voted Coach of the Year while the club took Team of the Year after their five-titles performances last season.

The two remaining special wards went to Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille for the Most Disciplined Team and W Connection’s Raymond McLean accepting the Team Administrator of the Year—for yet another time.
